Why Camera Count Matters

10-Camera Multi-Angle Example — Liverpool Cathedral

See how 10 simultaneous camera angles give the editor the freedom to tell the full story of a live performance

10 Cameras

What 10 cameras gives you

  • A wide safety shot covering the whole stage — always
  • Operated cameras tracking lead vocals, solos and key moments
  • Side angles for depth and crowd interaction
  • Locked-off close-ups on drums, keys, guitars
  • Audience and atmosphere shots throughout
  • Enough coverage to handle lighting blackouts and fast cuts

The edit is only as good as the coverage. More camera angles means more choices in the edit and a final film that feels like broadcast television rather than a single-camera recording.

After the Show

What You Receive From a Concert Filming Package

A concert filming package can be kept simple, or built into a full long-term content package. Here is what we can deliver.

Multi-Camera Concert Film

The full concert edited between camera angles, cut to the music. Ideal for fans, private links, management, venues and archives.

Full Wide-Camera Recording

The entire performance from a wide camera — useful for review, archiving, staging reference or a crew copy.

4K Clips Folder (150–300 clips)

Short moments from all cameras organised into a 4K clips folder — vocals, solos, crowd reactions, lighting moments, walk-ons and social media gold.

60-Second Concert Promo

A punchy promo cut to sell the feeling of the night. Perfect for announcing the next show, sending to agents or running as a social advert.

Interview & Vox Pop Promo

Band, crew and audience interviews mixed with live footage. Adds personality and makes the show feel like a story rather than just a recording.

~100 Photo Stills

Pulled from the camera footage — useful for social posts, website updates, press releases, posters and YouTube thumbnails.

Common Questions

Concert Filming — Frequently Asked Questions

Concerts move fast. The lighting changes. The lead singer steps forward. The guitarist takes a solo. The drummer carries the energy. The audience reacts. The lighting desk hits a blackout. The best moment may only happen once.

That is why concert filming needs a proper camera plan:

  • A wide safety camera covering the whole stage
  • Operated cameras following key performers
  • Side angles for depth and movement
  • Close-up cameras for vocals, instruments and reactions
  • Locked-off cameras for drums, keys, guitars or crowd shots
  • Clean audio capture from the sound desk where possible
  • Ambient microphones to keep the room feeling alive

The goal is simple: when the edit comes together, the viewer should feel the energy of the night.

It depends on the show, the venue and the brief. We have worked on productions ranging from 3 cameras at a smaller intimate venue right up to 10 cameras at a large scale production such as Liverpool Cathedral.

For most professional concert productions we recommend a minimum of 4–5 cameras. This gives you a safety wide, an operated front camera, side angles and at least one close-up position. For larger stages or productions that need broadcast-quality coverage, more cameras give the editor far more creative options in the cut.

We plan each production individually based on the stage size, number of performers, lighting setup and what the footage needs to do after the show.

No. The concert is the main event, but it is rarely the only useful part of the day. When we are booked for concert filming, we often record before the performance as well. This can include:

  • Venue arrival and exterior shots
  • Load-in and set-up
  • Soundcheck moments
  • Backstage and crew footage
  • Band interviews
  • Audience vox pops
  • Shots of instruments, lighting rigs, signage and atmosphere

These extra moments turn a concert recording into a full story — and the behind-the-scenes content and clips are often what help sell the next gig.

We have recently filmed live performance projects at venues including the London Palladium and Liverpool Cathedral, as well as a range of theatres, music venues, cathedrals and outdoor stages across London and the South East.

Each venue brings different challenges. A theatre like the London Palladium has history, lighting, audience energy and a strong stage setup. A cathedral brings scale, height, reverberant sound and a very different visual feel. The camera plan has to respect the venue — some shows need discreet positions, some need long lenses, some need roaming coverage.

We work with a wide range of clients, including:

  • Bands, tribute acts and solo artists
  • Choirs, orchestras and theatre companies
  • Promoters and event organisers
  • Venues and production teams
  • Agencies and charities
  • Churches and cathedrals
  • Music schools

Some clients need a clean recording of the full show. Others need a promotional package that helps sell future events. Many need both.

Prices typically start from around £1,000 for a straightforward smaller shoot and range up to £4,500+ for larger multi-camera productions with full editing and a complete media package.

The main factors affecting cost are the number of cameras, number of crew, edit complexity, length of the show, and the deliverables you need. Concert filming in London may also include additional costs for parking, congestion charges and travel.

The best way to get an accurate figure is to share your venue, date, and what you need the footage to do — we can then suggest the right setup and give you a clear quote.

The more we know before the day, the calmer the filming feels on site. Helpful details include:

  • Venue name and address
  • Performance date, load-in time, show start and finish
  • Running order or set list
  • Number of performers
  • Any key solos, moments or restrictions
  • Lighting and audio desk contact
  • Whether interviews are needed
  • Whether you need social clips, a full film, or both

Yes — some concerts are filmed for later release, others need live streaming for audiences who cannot attend in person. Live streaming adds extra planning around internet connection, audio, camera switching, graphics and backup options.

If you are considering live streaming alongside filming, mention it when you get in touch and we can advise whether it is practical for your venue and audience size.
